Periodic reviews by the operations department will be conducted to monitor compliance. If a conflict arises, it is reviewed by the operations department and if necessary, the individual will be excluded from making decisions in relation to applicable transactions.

The compensation for key employees and directors is a calculation based on the collective bargaining agreements of those employees whom they oversee. The officers' compensation/stipend has two tiers and is based on the number of hours to which they commit to carrying out union business. The executive board approved these processes.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

No provision has been made for income taxes as the union is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(5) of the internal revenue code and the applicable state of california code section. The union follows asc 740 accounting for uncertainty in income taxes, which clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an entity's financial statements and provides guidance on the recognition, de-recognition and measurement of benefits related to an entity's uncertain tax positions. Management evaluated the union's tax positions and concluded that the union had maintained its tax exempt status and had taken no uncertain tax positions that required recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. Therefore, no provision or liability for income taxes has been included in the financial statements. With few exceptions, the union is no longer subject to income tax examinations by the u.s. Federal, state, or local tax authorities for tax years before 2010.
