IRS990ScheduleA/FactsAndCircumstancesTestTxt0Part II, Line 17a--Bangor Masonic Foundation meets the Facts and Circumstances test by receiving more than 10% of its total support from the public and because of the following specific circumstances: The Bangor Masonic Foundation was organized under the IRC Sec. 501(c)(3) to provide facilities for the Children's Dyslexia Center, Masonic historical library and meeting space for use by the public and other non-profit organizations. The Bangor Masonic Foundation receives financial support to carry out these activities from contributions made by the general public and businesses, building use fees and investment income. The Bangor Masonic Foundation currently solicits donations on an individual basis for specific needs in connection with the rehabilitation of the building, which is recorded on the national historic register. This rehabilitation project has also been supplemented by the insurance proceeds from the fire loss of our former building. The Children's Dyslexia Center is a community program that assists the public schools with helping children overcome this reading disability. This is a free program to those families with Dyslectic children, which is supported by the Bangor Masonic Foundation and the Scottish Rite Masons. Currently the program has 38 children enrolled from the greater Bangor area.Our governing board includes several members who represent the broader community and have expertise in municipal government, education, finance, insurance and business. The board over the past 5 years has been focused on the rehabilitation of this 154 year old building to satisfy all building code requirements, provide a learning space for the Children's Dyslexia Center, to provide meeting space for Masonic organizations and other non-profit organizations. During 2013 the board had been researching ways to implement a broad based public annual appeal which will be extremely necessary because the insurance proceeds will be depleted at the end of 2013. This annual appeal campaign was scheduled to begin in the fall of 2013, but was delayed until 2014. We also plan to do a fund-raising event during the fall of 2014.
