“Hydrogen student design contest: an educational effort to stimulate college students to think about hydrogen and develop innovative technology to be showcased. The contest will create a forum for university level students studying a variety of disciplines to apply their academic skills and creativity to the design of a hydrogen system. Hef anticipates that each year, based on a different theme, dozens of multi-disciplinary student teams from around the world will design a comprehensive hydrogen system that is evaluated by a team of judges based on the aesthetic design, engineering, economic viability, environmental impact, safety and marketability.”

“The h-prize, enacted by congress, authorized the secretary of energy to create a program to competitively award cash prizes that will advance the commercial application of hydrogen energy technologies by dramatizing and incentivizing accelerated research. The h-prize was originally established by the energy independence and security act of 2007, in sec. 654. There are several h-prize categories, including production, storage, distribution, utilization, and prototypes and transformational technologies.”
