Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Copolymer Retirees Trust was formed as a Voluntary Employees Beneficiary Association and currently services 307 retirees spouses and dependents as of August 31 2024 and continues to manage the premiums received for future medical life and dental benefits for all participants.

The Trust was set-up and initially funded by DSM Copolymer Inc. to assume the liabilities from it for medical and life insurance for its retirees beneficiaries and dependents and now includes a voluntary participant funded dental benefit. The VEBA services 330 participants as of August 31 2022.

“The 990 is prepared in-house and reviewed by the trust administrator and legal counsel using audited financial statements which includes input from the investment advisors and contracted vendors. The form is then submitted to the Board of Directors for their review and ratification.”

“All vendors are interviewed as to their business and personal relationships with other contractors members of the trust board members and the administrator. In the event of a disclosure the full board will evaluate the relationship to determine if the services should continue. A material change in vendor would be reviewed by the Board of Directors after recommendations by the administrator who had previously taken into account conflicts of interest and other business related issues prior to recommendation.”
