Mission

Team Up Mentoring connects the key elements of a child's life in order to foster growth and success through building long term relationships with children, collaborating with all stakeholders, and providing resources and skills for the entire family. Team Up Mentoring envisions that all young people practice spiritual and emotional health, possess the skills they need for employment and managing finances, live in safe and affordable housing, and reach their highest educational potential. During 2017, we celebrated yet another high school graduate, and is now locally employed and considering further education options, Students gained an average of 1.5 grade levels in reading ability, Team Up conducted a Needs Assessment with its teen participants and used this information to revamp the TUM teen experience.

We know that strong mental health and a solid academic base are essential to end cycles of stress and poverty. Team up engaged the whole family, from parents to preschoolers and everyone in between. With a focus on reading at each mentoring session, our elementary students were able to improve their literacy skills. Because of this, we saw 100% of team up students move to the next grade level in 2020. Helping children bounce back after setbacks is key to overcoming trauma. That's why we are celebrating that 63% of team up students were matched with a licensed therapist this year. Empowering clients to be in the driver's seat of their own lives is critical to longterm success. This year we're excited to report that 87.5% of team up graduates are employed or pursuing higher education two years after leaving the program.

TEAM UP ENGAGED THE WHOLE FAMILY, FROM PARENTS TO PRESCHOOLERS AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN. WITH A FOCUS ON READING AT EACH MENTORING SESSION, OUR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO IMPROVE THEIR LITERACY SKILLS. BECAUSE OF THIS, WE SAW 100% OF TEAM UP STUDENTS MOVE TO THE NEXT GRADE LEVEL IN 2020. HELPING CHILDREN BOUNCE BACK AFTER SETBACKS IS KEY TO OVERCOMING TRAUMA. THAT'S WHY WE ARE CELEBRATING THAT 63% OF TEAM UP STUDENTS WERE MATCHED WITH A LICENSED THERAPIST THIS YEAR. EMPOWERING CLIENTS TO BE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT OF THEIR OWN LIVES IS CRITICAL TO LONGTERM SUCCESS. THIS YEAR WE'RE EXCITED TO REPORT THAT 87.5% OF TEAM UP GRADUATES ARE EMPLOYED OR PURSUING HIGHER EDUCATION TWO YEARS AFTER LEAVING THE PROGRAM.
