Thrive was established in 2000, by a group of leaders from the nonprofit sector to promote collaboration and speak collectively to strengthen the economic and social health of San Mateo County. Thrive provides the opportunity to convene, connect, collaborate, communicate and celebrate.

Thrive is a robust, trusted network of nonprofit organizations,businesses,government agencies,elected officials and civic leaders in San Mateo County. We help to build the capacity of nonprofits,large and small,to strengthen San Mateo County's critical community organizations and connections. In an increasingly technology-driven world, Thrive is real people, meeting real challenges, with real collaboration -- on the ground,face-to-face, 200 strong and counting.Thrive's unique approach allows us to work across the social,public and private sectors, and facilitate and magnify outcomes through connections,collective voice, and person-to-person collaboration. Only Thrive includes nonprofits from every sector - from large foundations to small organizations, from human services to arts and education, hospitals,banks and County Departments. Together we form an ecosystem for San Mateo County that gets things done: for Nonprofits, for Government, for Business, for Everyone.Thrive's program service accomplishments for this period have included bringing a multitude of resources to the San Mateo County nonprofit community, as follows:Thrive continues to represent San Mateo County non profits and bring their voices to the tableWe have helped improve social capital for nonprofit professional (e.g. CEO Leadership Circle)We have connected community leaders with nonprofits (e.g. Thrive OnBoard)We have strengthened the people power of the sector (e.g Thrive Career Summit & Job Fair)We have promoted opportunities for cross-sector collaboration (e.g Thrive's Annual Networking Extravaganza;Thrive Policy & Advocacy;philanthropy discussions)Our main programs and impact areas for this period were as follows:Thrive Nonprofit Career Summit & Job Fair:Recruiting and Retaining Nonprofit Employees in a Thriving Economy - This was Thrive's first annual job fair, in partnership with the College of San Mateo, and it featured over 32 nonprofit exhibitors and multiple breakout sessions.Thrive OnBoard - Fourth annual event, connecting San Mateo County nonprofits with potential board member volunteers at the Hiller Aviation Museum, featuring 23 nonprofit exhibitors.This year we partnered with Center for Excellence in Non profits to encourage board training. We also spoke at local corporation like Box to develop the pipeline of new board prospects.ThriveConvenes -Covenings and outreach to nonprofits regarding key community issues. This year, we partnered with Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center to introduce our "Reflect,Respond, & Engage Series," drawing over 200 people from all three sectors. The sessions included Reflect, Respond and Engage Part I: San Mateo County & the National Trajectory;and Reflect, Respond, and Engage Part II; California & the National Trajectory. These interactive sessions featured expert facilitation and panelists of community leaders.Community Forums - Signature program that brings distinguished speakers to present relevant information for nonprofits. This year's topics includes the following: Tectonic Shifts;Planned and Unplanned Nonprofit Leadership Transitions, in partnership with Olive Grove; The Giving Code; Silicon Valley Nonprofits & Philanthropy,featuring Open Impact for the release of their report on local philanthropy, where Thrive members contributed to a solution salon in response to the findings; our Thrive Annual Networking Extravaganza, this year featuring an online networking and resource sharing component through Whova; and Toxic Inequality; Toward Greater Equity and Mobility, in partnership with the Sobrato Foundation. We drew 500+ people to our Community Forums this year.Thrive Connects - Facilitated peer support networks for executive directors and nonprofit professionals. ThriveConnects also features our Leadership Circle Luncheons, which take place quarterly. This year's theme was fundraising, and we brought in speakers on the following topics: planned giving;retaining development staff;fundraising amidst policy changes;and corporate and foundation relations. we also provide a weekly member-to-member Listerv that keeps our community informed about important local initiatives and activities, often driven by the nonprofit sector and impacting the overall health of San Mateo County. We also provide weekly Job Announcements to our membership to support the sector's recruitment efforts. This year, we also hosted a Members Kick-Off Event on the topic of Storytelling and Corporate Volunteerism,featuring Electronic Arts and GreatNonprofits. Finally we offered networking opportunities for young nonprofit professional, including an event in partnership with the Young Nonprofit Professional Network and Dragon Theatre in Redwood City.Every day, Thrive members make strategic connections that enhance San Mateo County's business and community efforts with: expert consultation,co-sharing of staff,co-sharing of space,staff positions filled,funding opportunities and resources identified and supplied.Thrive policy and Advocacy - We launched a new arm of the organization, Thrive Policy and Advocacy, an effort driven by members and made possible by community based volunteers. The purpose of this initiative is the following:to monitor the policy landscape;to communicate potential changes;and advocate for the overall health of the sector and community. We raise awareness on key issues and also provide special trainings in this domain.As part of this new focus, we also rolled out Thrive Action Groups (TAGs). Our TAGs meet monthly and are each anchored by an organization that serves as an expert in the filed.These action groups provided monitoring ,communication,and advocacy in five key ares. These key areas were identified through participant surveys through our Reflect,Respond, & Engage Series. The action groups and their corresponding anchor organizations are as follows: Basic Needs & Safety Net, anchored by Samaritan House, Children & Education, anchored by Peninsula Family Service; and Immigrant and Worker's Rights, anchored by Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County. We have also initiated informal TAGs for Arts & Culture and Environment & Sustainability by providing a Thrive liaison to existing groups on these issues areas.$167,813-
