Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 3

Sbshr was never intended to be a long-standing nonprofit and has worked over the last seven years to be the change agent, advocate, and fundraiser for early education with the goal of raising kindergarten readiness levels. While sbshr will cease to exist, the work will continue, carried on and championed by the municipalities. Sbshr has concluded its work and dissolved as of january 31, 2014. After organizational obligations were met, any excess grant funds were donated to other non-profit organizations to carry on existing programs or other early childhood education initiatives. During the four months ended january 31, 2014, sbshr contributed $270,845 to a related non-profit organization for this purpose.

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

Form 990, part xi, line 2c: the executive committee assumes responsibility of the oversight of the audit of financial statements.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Sbshr is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, except on net income derived from unrelated business activities. Internal revenue code section 513(a) defines an unrelated trade or business of an exempt organization as any trade or business which is not substantially related to the exercise or performance of its exempt purpose. Currently the organization has no obligation for any unrelated business income tax. Sbshr believes it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. Sbshr's federal return of organization exempt from income tax (form 990) are generally not subject to examination by the irs for tax years ended prior to 2011.
