“The school utilizes uncommon schools, inc. (usi), an unrelated 501(c)(3) organization, to provide management and other administrative support services to the school. The school delegates hiring of certain employees, planning and executing budgets, and other financial operations to uncommon schools, inc. Brett peiser is on the school board of trustees and the ceo of uncommon schools inc. Uncommon schools, inc. Does not compensate brett peiser to be on the board of the school and his involvement with the board is on a volunteer basis.”

“The finance committee reviews the form 990 in detail. It is then provided to the board for final review and is then filed.”

“Board members are required to evaluate and disclose conflicts of interests on an annual basis.”

“Through the annual budget approval process all compensation for key employees is approved by school board of trustees.”

“In december 2014, the charter school's board of trustees approved a merger of the charter school and leadership preparatory bedford stuyvesant charter school, as the successor charter school under the name uncommon new york city charter schools, in conjunction with excellence charter schools, bedford stuyvesant collegiate charter school, brownsville collegiate charter school, brooklyn east collegiate charter school, leadership preparatory brownsville charter school, leadership preparatory canarsie charter school, leadership preparatory ocean hill charter school, kings collegiate charter school and ocean hill collegiate charter school. The merger was approved on march 6, 2015 by the suny board of trustees and on june 30, 2015 by the board of regents. The merger was effective july 1, 2015 for the charter schools referred to above, except the charter school (williamsburg). On february 26, 2016, the board of regents of the university of the state of new york approved the merger into uncommon new york city charter schools effective july 1, 2016. The charter school did not cease utilizing their ein number until december 31, 2017 and did not close all their bank accounts until february 28, 2017.”
