Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Via Christi Villages Hays, Inc. carries out the healing mission of the Catholic Church whose corporate member is Via Christi Villages, Inc., (whose corporate member is Ascension Health Senior Care). Via Christi's history extends back over 100 years and today we continue to respond to our greater community's needs. Our Mission calls for us to provide spiritually centered, holistic care which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities, of all faiths, races, and socio-economic backgrounds, particularly those most in need. We commit ourselves to identifying and developing effective responses to the health and housing needs of all persons we are called to serve with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable.

To provide skilled nursing and assisted living services to those in our community for the short term and long term.

The process for determining compensation of the organization's ceo, executive director, or top management official, as well as that of any other officers or senior executives (if any), is directed by a related organization. The related organization's board committee responsible for compensation oversees the process, utilizing independent delegees within the organization as appropriate, depending on the role. In some cases, the process may utilize comparability data and analysis from a national third-party compensation firm; or, if more appropriate for the role, it may instead utilize other applicable sources of market comparability data as needed to verify reasonableness. The process also includes contemporaneous substantiation of the analysis and decision regarding the compensation arrangement. Compensation is reviewed at least annually and the process is administered to assure independence, avoid conflicts of interest, ensure reasonableness and market comparability of total compensation, and to otherwise abide by pertinent laws and regulations.

ROOTED IN THE CATHOLIC TRADITION OF CARING, OUR COMMUNITY IS CONTINUALLY DEVELOPING AND ADOPTING NEW BEST PRACTICES IN CARE THAT ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE OF OUR RESIDENTS, PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS AND PATIENTS. THE STAFF IS COMMITTED TO PROMOTING THE WELL-BEING OF THOSE WE SERVE THROUGH THE DELIVERY OF QUALITY CARE. VCVH OFFERS ASSISTED AND HEALTHCARE SERVICES, 39 ASSISTED LIVING APARTMENTS IN A VARIETY OF FLOOR PLANS WITH AN AVERAGE OCCUPANCY IN 2022 OF 37 OR 94.4%, AND A 96-BED HEALTH CARE CENTER WITH AN AVERAGE OCCUPANCY OF 69 OR 71.8%. IN 2022, 11,508 DAYS OF CARE WERE PROVIDED TO MEDICAID RECIPIENTS; 2,199 DAYS OF CARE WERE PROVIDED TO MEDICARE RECIPIENTS. AS A FAITH-BASED CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY, THE VILLAGE OFFERS ON SITE PASTORAL CARE AND RELIGIOUS SERVICES, AS WELL AS OUTSTANDING DINING AND LIFE ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES. ALL ACCOMMODATIONS ALLOW RESIDENTS EASY ACCESS TO LIVING AREAS AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO NURTURE NEW FRIENDSHIPS. COMMUNITY BENEFIT SERVICES PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS WERE PROVIDED SUCH AS COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT SERVICES, SUBSIDIZED HEALTH SERVICES, AND OTHER COMMUNITY BENEFIT OPERATIONS SERVING THE POOR OR VULNERALBE, AND PROGRAMS, SERVICES, ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS THAT IMPROVE ACCESS, RESPOND TO THE HEALTH NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY, AND ADVANCE MEDICAL OR HEALTH CARE KNOWLEDGE WERE INVESTED IN THE BROADER COMMUNITY OF $15,386. APPROXIMATELY $11,227 OF CHARITY CARE WAS ALSO PROVIDED.
