Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Trekking for Kids organizes purpose-driven treks for socially-conscious hikers in some of the world's most remote locations. TFK utilizes the trekkers thirst for adventure and the outdoors with their desire to help those less fortunate. TFK focuses on the orphans who live in the shadows of the world's most coveted adventure destinations. The organization provides help to the orphanages such as much needed repairs to the facilities new buildings furniture livestock education and even a grocery store. The projects are aimed at providing theses orphanages a boost towards internal sustainability. Each year TFK organizes at least one trek on a different continent leaving behind tangible contribututions to improve the lives of orphans living in the areas where the treks take place.

Major Activities

Activity 2: TFK was able to provide shoes to a Nepal orphanage, a new electrical system for the Orphan Children Rescue Center in Nepal, repaired a wall in the orphanage and paid rent for a Nepal orphanage.
Activity 3: TFK has a sustainability fund to help with ongoing maintenance and other expenses the orphanages who have received prior TFK help need. Some income and expenses were generated to help an orphanage in Argentina and Ecuador.

IRS990/Description	0	Expenses were incurred to benefit the 22 children at Warm Heart Children's Home in Phrao, Thailand. ^ A new green dormitory, using a mud/cob technique was built to house 10 new girls next spring & expand and furnish the kitchen and eating area to accomodate the additional children. A foundation of another dormitory for boys will be built in the coming months and include plans to help the children with educational expenses. Sports equipment, backpacks, school supplies, clothing, hair accessories, jewelry, handbags and toys were also provided. ^ The 22 orphans were also taken on a much anticipated field trip to Chiang Mai. Thanks to TFK's Charity Partner, Sony Pictures, the children were able to enjoy their first experience in a theater with a private screening of the Smurfs. A pizza lunch and a visit to the famous Doi Suthep temple finished the day. Finally, as also has become tradition, everyone danced, ate and celebrated their final night together with not only the children, but also neighbors and friends. ^ The funds also enabled TFK to purchase $890 worth of solar light bulbs for the Warm Hearts Children's home from Nokero, Inc.
