Form 990, Part III, Line 4D: Other Program Services Description

OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: National Convening Total expenses - $177,905 Revenues - $172,629GCIRs 2018 Biennial National Convening, "United We Rise: Newcomers, Neighbors, and Americas Next Generation", brought together 235 funders from around the country to learn, strategize, and get inspired. The convening, held in Los Angeles, featured pioneering thought leaders and funders; presented a wide range of perspectives on philanthropys role in addressing community needs and effecting social change; and emphasized collaboration across sectors and silos. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Delivering on the Dream (DOTD) In 2018, DOTD funder network continued to bring new funders to the immigration space and engage longstanding funders to expand the immigrant rights and services infrastructure around the country. Three new DOTD collaboratives were launched in Georgia, Florida and New Jersey, states with high need and low funder engagement. By the end of 2018, DOTD comprised 23 collaboratives in 18 states working to advance the equity and inclusion of immigrants and refugees in their communities. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Information Resources total expenses - $184,916In 2018, GCIR produced issue briefs, funding recommendations, reports, and presentations, and kept our website and social media content updated with relevant information to keep funders informed about immigrant and refugee issues. These resources were shared with over 1,500 funders and other philanthropic representatives nationwide via our e-newsletters and via our social media platforms of Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The organization follows "accounting for uncertainty in income taxes" under asc 740 income taxes. The asc requires the evaluation of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in the organization's tax returns and does not allow recognition of tax positions which do not meet a "more-likely-than-not" threshold of being sustained by the applicable tax authority. The organization does not believe it has taken any tax positions that would not meet this threshold.the organization's federal and state income tax returns are subject to possible examination by the taxing authorities until the expiration of the related statutes of limitations on those tax returns. In general, the federal income tax returns have a three-year statute of limitations, and the state income tax returns have a four-year statute of limitations.the organization's policy is to reflect interest and penalties related to uncertain tax positions as part of income tax expense, when and if they become applicable.

IRS990/Desc0UndocuFund The UndocuFund for Fire Relief in Sonoma County, established in 2017 in partnership with three grassroots organizations, has disbursed over $6,500,000 to families, with the average aid per household totaling $3,157. UndocuFund helped over 2,000 families who lost homes, jobs, and/or wages but who did not qualify for FEMA assistance. Close to 8,000 people, half of them children, benefited from the UndocuFunds support. Nearly 100 volunteers who worked with the Fund were trained in application intake and spent countless hours assisting with the application and check disbursement process during the year. The Undocufund is a time-limited initiative, and its operation will be transferred to the partner organizations.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0California Immigrant Integration Initiative (CIII) The CIII funder table remained an important forum for catalyzing coordinated and collaborative grantmaking in the state with the largest immigrant population. This past year, we increased participation from Southern California funders, organized quarterly group meetings, working group meetings, and other programming.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Delivering on the Dream (DOTD) In 2018, DOTD funder network continued to bring new funders to the immigration space and engage longstanding funders to expand the immigrant rights and services infrastructure around the country. Three new DOTD collaboratives were launched in Georgia, Florida and New Jersey, states with high need and low funder engagement. By the end of 2018, DOTD comprised 23 collaboratives in 18 states working to advance the equity and inclusion of immigrants and refugees in their communities.
