IRS990/Desc0CLIENT SERVICES PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTSRestore completed data collection with 76 survivors of trafficking in October and November 2018 on their experiences accessing healthcare while trafficked. This study is critical, as we know healthcare settings are opportune locations for identification of trafficking victims. Also, as indicated previously Restore is a lead trainer in the NYC area to hospitals and healthcare providers on trafficking identification and service coordination, and the findings from this studywill provide rich qualitative data on recommended improvements for healthcare professionals interacting with potential victims of trafficking. To date, only two other studies have been conducted on this topic. This is the first study examining this topic with foreign-national adult women only and for women primarily trafficked in New York City. Restore released a report on the findings from this study to the field on January 11, 2019, to coincide with National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.Our team was connected with the Alabama Attorney Generals (AG) office through Polaris last November 2018 to assist in a human trafficking operation to close illicit massage business that had victims in their 4 locations. Our team worked closely with the AGs office for the months leading up to the operation in mid-April. Chris Muller and Beisi Huang led a comprehensive training via webinar for all of the law enforcement officers involved. In April 2019 three clinicians from the Client Services team that flew down to Alabama to ensure that survivors affected by the operation would be served and be able to exit the situation safely. During the course of the operation, the clinicians assisted 14 survivors in finding emergency housing for the night and connect them to local resources.HOUSING PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTSIn January, Restore finalized implementation of a new low-barrier housing model. Changes included removing curfews, eliminating mandated services, and providing clients funds to purchase their own groceries. Such changes have elicited positive feedback and better aligned our programming with best and recommended practices in housing survivors of trauma and violence.o Polaris, one of the nations leading anti-trafficking organizations, selected Restore NYC to be 1 of 4 nonprofit participants in their new pilot with Uber/Lyft to help victims of trafficking. Restore was provided $10,000 in credits for clients in need of transportation.o In January, Restore started offering Flexible Funding, a cash assistance program for expenses related to ending or preventing homelessness including fees related to a new apartment, unexpected medical expenses, or childcare. Flexible Funding allows us to extend our housing services beyond the residents living in our safe home, including clients with dependent children, a population we have been unable to accommodate in our transitional home as of yet.o In July, Restore hired its first Director of Housing. One of the primary responsibilities of the role will be to build landlord partnerships and connect clients to safe and affordable housing options. This will ensure that clients have multiple options for safe housing including emergency housing, transitional housing, and rapid rehousing with flexible funding.o In December, Restore started using a new text-based satisfaction survey. This new technology better secures the anonymous nature of the data collection, thereby fostering genuine and truthful feedback. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS In August 2019 Restore launched individual mentoring for English-speakers participating in its job readiness training course. Mentors met with mentees five times at monthly career-related events to discuss resumes, interviewing, feedback and how to quit a job, and stayed in touch with mentees by phone in between meetings. Mentoring helped participants strengthen their professional network and improve their ability to interact with people outside their c

IRS990/MissionDesc0Restore NYC is focused on providing holistic long-term aftercare services for international suvivors of sex trafficking in New York City. This is accomplished through identifying individuals trafficked and offering counseling, case management, housing, and economic empowerment services. We measure impact to improve our services and share our learnings through targeted trainings to front-line professionals who have the opportunity to identify more survivors of trafficking.
