IRS990/Desc0Implemented Housing First Model: This year Restore fully adopted a Housing First philosophy, believing that housing is a right for all survivors of trafficking and the first intervention necessary to put in place. Only after a survivor is housed can we expect other critical needs to be addressed (e.g., finding employment, seeking mental-health care, attending to community commitments). This philosophy translates to an approach in Restore's Safehome whereby there are no barriers to entry (e.g., requirements to be working, substance free). Restore's Safehome no longer has a curfew, for instance, and participants purchase and prepare their own meals. This has resulted in greater empowerment, autonomy, and independence for residents, with the hope for eventual successful reintegration into society.Increased Platform to Share Program Design and Impact Success: Restore has been invited to speak at a number of national platforms with Office for Victims of Crime (Department of Justice) this year. For example, Restore was a panel speaker at the first Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) Roundtable on Effective Evaluation of Human Trafficking Programs in Portland, Oregon. This presentation focused on how anti-trafficking organizations can develop effective evaluation methods and promising tools for evaluating direct-service programs. Restore also served as consultant to an invite-only Curriculum Development Meeting in Washington DC with OVC-funded technical assistance partner Futures Without Violence. Restore contributed to vital content creation at this meeting on promoting employment opportunities for survivors of trafficking.Trained and Equipped Healthcare Providers: One of Restore's primary outreach efforts to find more victims of trafficking in New York City is through training hospitals on trafficking identification and response. Restore contracted for trainings with the largest integrated private healthcare system in New York State, Northwell Health, and began trainings to 200 healthcare providers. In addition, Restore trained the Greater NY Hospital Association and the Healthcare Association of NY State. Restore has seen great success from these trainings with almost a dozen identifications reported and multiple individuals accessing critical services in New York City.
