“Join the journey annual walk: this walk held in rochester minnesota raises awareness about breast cancer and provides the community with information and direct support from our organization. There were 78 participants in 2024.”
“Vision of hope support group: we strive to provide in person support groups offering connections, understanding, and quality source of strength for breast cancer patients and survivors. Our breast cancer support group offers a valuable platform for individuals to exchange their experiences and garner both emotional and practical support from those who have navigated similar challenges. This group provides a profound sense of connection, understanding and strentgh for both the patients and survivors. Meetings are held at 125live on the first and third monday of every month 9am-10:30am. 141 participants in 2024.”
“Our annual breast cancer survivor's dinner is held every october to celebrate both newly diagnosed individuals as well as long term survivors. Musical entertainment is provided as well as humorous monolog from long- time cancer survivors. Gifts are given to the most newly diagnosed individual and also the longest survivor. This is a chance for patients and survivors to connect with a kind caring sisterhood and catch up with old freinds. One of the fun highlights of the evening is to add up the years of survivorship in the room. 2024 had 42 attendees.”
“Making waves program: this is a floating support group of join the journey. Research has shown that breast cancer survivors who engage in repetitive activities, such as paddling, develop a marked improvement in both physical and mental health. Equipped with the positive effects of dragon boating, a group of enthusiastic breast cancer survivors and supporters paddle every wednesday evening in the summer on silver lake in rochester, minnesota and hold quarterly social events. The team continues to meet in the winter months for social activities. Making waves paddles every wednesday in june, july and august on silver lake rochester. There were 24 active team members in 2024. Cooking up hope: join the journey volunteers coordinate with hope lodge to provide and serve supper to the residents of hope lodge twice a year. Many of the residents are receiving treatment during their stay, so having a group come in and prepare and serve a meal to them is a great kindness. Our volunteers visit with the residents and hear about their families and lives beyond the cancer diagnosis. We strive to give them a night free of worry and stress. Average attendence is 70 to 80 individuals.”

THIS IS A CHANCE FOR PATIENTS AND SURVIVORS TO CONNECT WITH A KIND CARING SISTERHOOD AND CATCH UP WITH OLD FREINDS. ONE OF THE FUN HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENING IS TO ADD UP THE YEARS OF SURVIVORSHIP IN THE ROOM. 2024 HAD 42 ATTENDEES. |

THE TEAM CONTINUES TO MEET IN THE WINTER MONTHS FOR SOCIAL ACTIVITIES. MAKING WAVES PADDLES EVERY WEDNESDAY IN JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST ON SILVER LAKE ROCHESTER. THERE WERE 24 ACTIVE TEAM MEMBERS IN 2024. COOKING UP HOPE: JOIN THE JOURNEY VOLUNTEERS COORDINATE WITH HOPE LODGE TO PROVIDE AND SERVE SUPPER TO THE RESIDENTS OF HOPE LODGE TWICE A YEAR. MANY OF THE RESIDENTS ARE RECEIVING TREATMENT DURING THEIR STAY, SO HAVING A GROUP COME IN AND PREPARE AND SERVE A MEAL TO THEM IS A GREAT KINDNESS. OUR VOLUNTEERS VISIT WITH THE RESIDENTS AND HEAR ABOUT THEIR FAMILIES AND LIVES BEYOND THE CANCER DIAGNOSIS. WE STRIVE TO GIVE THEM A NIGHT FREE OF WORRY AND STRESS. AVERAGE ATTENDENCE IS 70 TO 80 INDIVIDUALS. |
