The museum accomplishes this mission through a newly renovated facility with over 90 hands-on educational exhibits, a digital dome theater, an outdoor science skywalk and the world's most powerful conical tesla coil.”

“Due to the covid-19 pandemic, mid-america was forced to close its doors to the public march-may, 2020 due to a mandated statewide shutdown. With a state directive to reopen with restrictions on commerce and travel, large indoor venues like the museum were allowed attendance levels at no more than 33% of facility capacity. The museum experienced no earned or contributed revenue during the shutdown and experienced a 70% reduction in all revenue during the remainder of the year. During the reopening period in 2020, all educational programs were conducted online through youtube and facebook live; the retail store, food service, and space rental functions remained closed.”
