Activity 2

JMML Family Support Programs. Through these programs, we reach out to children with JMML and their families to offer them some of the personal, emotional, informational, and financial support they so need as a result of the disease. In FY11, we: (1) sent "Little Heroes Care Packages" to children with JMML in 2 countries during the year; and (2) maintained "HONcode" Health on the Net Foundation certification for medical information offered on our website, www.jmmlfoundation.org.

Activity 3

JMML Research Grants. Through this program we seek to accelerate the process of finding a cure for JMML by assisting in the generation of knowledge leading to new therapies and improved survival for children with JMML. All applications are reviewed for applicability to the Foundation's JMML Research Roadmap priorities, feasibility, and potential impact to JMML child survivability. Proposals for grants in the amount of $30,000 per year are approved on a competitive basis and awards are made based on availability of funding. In FY12, we oversaw execution of the $30,000 research grant we awarded in FY11 to the Henry L. Jackson Foundation for a project led by Kenneth Lieuw, MD, PhD, of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, entitled "Characterization of a murine model of JMML."
