Building community through the process & production of personal, accessible dance-based performance, attack theatre blends varied art forms with dynamic contemporary dance creating passionate portrayals of everyday life.

Attack theatre combines modern dance and interdisciplinary art forms to create personal, accessible performances and creative learning programs throughout pittsburgh and beyond. Attack theatre has spent the last 25 years creating work at the intersection of art and community, leading to a large and dedicated audience that comprises a variety of ages, races, genders, sexual orientations, nationalities, and economic backgrounds. The diverse nature of the company's audience, collaborators, and participants is achieved through frequent partnerships with artists, arts organizations, and educational organizations. These collaborations blur the lines between art forms and embrace varied backgrounds and aesthetic perspectives. Attack theatre's programs take place in a wide variety of traditional and nontraditional venues. In fiscal year 2020, three mainstage/self-produced works were performed in pittsburgh, pa at the warhol museum, spirit hall in lawrenceville, and the new hazlett theater on the northside. The company presented 1,445 unique in-person performances, workshops, and residencies for students and teachers, and performed in 23 in-person public events (mainstage performances, special events, commissions, and collaborations). After transitioning to virtual programming due to covid-19, attack theatre implemented 220 online engagements, including virtual performances, classes, and student residencies. These programs reached a total audience of 28,477. Of these individuals, 9,561 were engaged in person and 18,916 were engaged online. Many of these programs, both in-person and virtual, were offered for free or with reduced ticket pricies in order to remove financial barriers for attendance.

ATTACK THEATRE HAS SPENT THE LAST 25 YEARS CREATING WORK AT THE INTERSECTION OF ART AND COMMUNITY, LEADING TO A LARGE AND DEDICATED AUDIENCE THAT COMPRISES A VARIETY OF AGES, RACES, GENDERS, SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS, NATIONALITIES, AND ECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS. THE DIVERSE NATURE OF THE COMPANY'S AUDIENCE, COLLABORATORS, AND PARTICIPANTS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH FREQUENT PARTNERSHIPS WITH ARTISTS, ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, AND EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS. THESE COLLABORATIONS BLUR THE LINES BETWEEN ART FORMS AND EMBRACE VARIED BACKGROUNDS AND AESTHETIC PERSPECTIVES. ATTACK THEATRE'S PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE IN A WIDE VARIETY OF TRADITIONAL AND NONTRADITIONAL VENUES. IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, THREE MAINSTAGE/SELF-PRODUCED WORKS WERE PERFORMED IN PITTSBURGH, PA AT THE WARHOL MUSEUM, SPIRIT HALL IN LAWRENCEVILLE, AND THE NEW HAZLETT THEATER ON THE NORTHSIDE. THE COMPANY PRESENTED 1,445 UNIQUE IN-PERSON PERFORMANCES, WORKSHOPS, AND RESIDENCIES FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS, AND PERFORMED IN 23 IN-PERSON PUBLIC EVENTS (MAINSTAGE PERFORMANCES, SPECIAL EVENTS, COMMISSIONS, AND COLLABORATIONS). AFTER TRANSITIONING TO VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING DUE TO COVID-19, ATTACK THEATRE IMPLEMENTED 220 ONLINE ENGAGEMENTS, INCLUDING VIRTUAL PERFORMANCES, CLASSES, AND STUDENT RESIDENCIES. THESE PROGRAMS REACHED A TOTAL AUDIENCE OF 28,477. OF THESE INDIVIDUALS, 9,561 WERE ENGAGED IN PERSON AND 18,916 WERE ENGAGED ONLINE. MANY OF THESE PROGRAMS, BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL, WERE OFFERED FOR FREE OR WITH REDUCED TICKET PRICIES IN ORDER TO REMOVE FINANCIAL BARRIERS FOR ATTENDANCE.
