Financial Statement Notes

Footnote for uncertain tax position under FIN 48 (Part X)

The center is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (the code) except to the extent it may have unrelated business income and has been determined by the internal revenue service not to be a private foundation within the meaning of section 509(a) of the code. The center files an annual information return. With few exceptions, the center is no longer subject to u.s. Federal income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before june 30, 2012. The center has adopted the provisions of fasb asc 740, accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. There were no unrecognized tax benefits as of june 30, 2015. The center recognizes interest accrued related to unrecognized tax benefits in interest expense and penalties in administrative expense. There were no such interest and penalties for 2015.
