The mission of the dr. Bernett johnson sayre health center is to provide reachable, culturally-aware, community based primary and preventive health care services to the underserved west philadelphia community and surrounding areas. Located just near the william l. Sayre high school, the health center is dedicated to centering, elevating, and advocating for students exploring health, wellness, and social & environmental health and activism. Sayre health center offers health services education for high school students, as well as undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from universities and colleges in the area. Through a peaceably led outreach team, sayre health center offers community engagement that missions to highlight and continue conversations on health and wellness in underserved philadelphia communities.

The form 990 is prepared by an independent accounting firm and then a copy of the form 990 is provided to the board of directors prior to filing with the internal revenue service.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The conflict of interest policy applies to all board directors, officers, and executives. These covered individuals shall act in a manner intended to further the best interest of the organization. If at any time a covered individual is aware that he or she has or may have a conflict of interest or is or may be unable to act in the best interest of the organization on any issue because of a personal situation or other reason, the covered individual shall disclose the conflict or potential conflict, recuse themself from voting on the subject, and shall leave the room while the matter is discussed. Prior to leaving the room, the affected covered individual shall answer any questions asked by disinterested directors. Recusing themself shall not prevent a covered individual from participating in other activities or discussions where no conflict of interest exists. Annually, each covered individual must complete a disclosure statement reflecting his or her interest. The chairman of the board is responsible for reviewing the disclosure statements.

The sayre health center board appointed a committee to research and review compensation and benefits of the executive directors of other federally qualified health centers in the local philadelphia region. The board committee provided their findings to the full board of directors. The full board considered the committee's recommendations and voted on the final decision for the level of compensation. The deliberation and final determination were timely documented in the committee and board minutes. This process was completed in 2023 and then in 2024.

DURING FISCAL YEAR 2024, SAYRE RECEIVED $2,232,167 IN TOTAL GRANTS FROM VARYING AGENCIES INCLUDING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY, THE FEDERAL COMMUNICATION COMMISSION, AND THE U.S. SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. SAYRE GENERATED NET PATIENT SERVICE REVENUE OF $969,205 IN FISCAL YEAR 2024. IN FISCAL YEAR 2024, SAYRE EXTENDED THEIR CURRENT LEASE SPACE BY 5,964 SQUARE FEET WHICH ALLOWED FOR ADDITIONAL PROVIDER CARE AND ADMINISTRATIVE CAPABILITIES.
