As a federally qualified health center in west philadelphia, our mission is to provide high-quality, culturally sensitive, accessible school-based primary and preventative healthcare services to the underserved west philadelphia community surrounding the william l. Sayre high school; and offer health services education for high school students, undergraduate, graduate and professional students
The sayre health center is a 501(c)3 corporation that will provide clinical services and health and education for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in health care. Sayre health center has the following objectives: to improve the health of sayre high school through the provision of health services and health education; to prepare sayre high school students for careers in health; to prepare sayre high school students for successful higher education opportunities; to provide accessible and culturally sensitive high-quality community based primary and preventive health care services to the underserved west philadelphia community surrounding the william l. Sayre high school; and to offer health services education for high school students and undergraduate, graduate and professional students from universities and colleges in the philadelphia area.

This shall include the president, who shall serve as chairman of the committee, the vice-president, secretary, treasurer and executive director. The executive committee shall have power and authority to take actions on behalf of the board of directors for emergencies and other business matters that occur between regular general body meetings of the board. The executive committee shall not be authorized to conduct the standard and usual business of the board. All actions taken by the executive committee shall be reported at the next meeting of the board and shall be binding on the board only when approved by formal vote of the entire board or when so authorized previously by the board and delegated to the executive committee. Members appointed by another entity(ies), including sayre school and the university of pennsylvania, may not make up a majority of the executive committee.”

“The health center is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and is exempt from state income taxes under the commonwealth of pennsylvania statutes. The health center follows the provisions of the income tax accounting standards regarding the recognition and measurement of uncertain tax positions. It is the health center's policy to account for any interest or penalties assessed relating to uncertain tax positions, if any, as general and administrative expenses. The health center did not incur any interest or penalties for the years ended june 30, 2014 or 2013 the application of these provisions has no impact on the health center's financial statements. The health center's tax returns are subject to review and examination by federal and state authorities. The tax returns for the years 2011 to 2013 are open to examination by federal and state authorities.”
