The process for determining the total compensation and benefits package of the top management official includes (A) Review of American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Compensation and benefits study, (B) Informal sampling of top management official compensation and benefits for small nonprofits with which the board is familiar (C) Informal sampling of customary compensation and benefits at companies and organizations with which the board is associate, and (d) evaluation of prior payments and hours committed for association management services and independent consulting, further considering goals for time commitment and personal investment in the organization by a full-time top management official. The board documents the end result of the process in an employment offer letter and its approval in the minutes.”
