Mission

Gap! Promotes the success of girls through education, self discovery, community building and belonging.

Gap provides leadership development and empowerment skills training with girls in teton county, wyoming in grades 3-12. We work as an after school program in the elementary schools and in the middle and high schools in our community. We work with over 200 girls each year, 70%anglo/30% latina in our respective groups. We also work in teton valley idaho and serve 12 girls there in the middle school, ages 6-8 grade....about 5% of our total demographic served. Our program themes include creating self awareness, personal accountability, identifying obstacles, building tools to navigate conflict, creating community mindedness, tuning into personal strengths and core values, body image, lifting up other girls and creating the leaders of our future. Raising girls is part of gap programming in our community and provides three speaker events annually that are aimed at parents, caregivers, coaches and teachers to provide current information and skill development in supporting their kids success.

Raising girls events target parents, educators, and caregivers to inspire thought and dialogue to help girls thrive. Our programming serves approximately 100 girls and 350 caregivers annually. Latinas comprise of 30% of gap programming.

WE WORK AS AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND IN THE MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE WORK WITH OVER 200 GIRLS EACH YEAR, 70%ANGLO/30% LATINA IN OUR RESPECTIVE GROUPS. WE ALSO WORK IN TETON VALLEY IDAHO AND SERVE 12 GIRLS THERE IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, AGES 6-8 GRADE....ABOUT 5% OF OUR TOTAL DEMOGRAPHIC SERVED. OUR PROGRAM THEMES INCLUDE CREATING SELF AWARENESS, PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY, IDENTIFYING OBSTACLES, BUILDING TOOLS TO NAVIGATE CONFLICT, CREATING COMMUNITY MINDEDNESS, TUNING INTO PERSONAL STRENGTHS AND CORE VALUES, BODY IMAGE, LIFTING UP OTHER GIRLS AND CREATING THE LEADERS OF OUR FUTURE. RAISING GIRLS IS PART OF GAP PROGRAMMING IN OUR COMMUNITY AND PROVIDES THREE SPEAKER EVENTS ANNUALLY THAT ARE AIMED AT PARENTS, CAREGIVERS, COACHES AND TEACHERS TO PROVIDE CURRENT INFORMATION AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN SUPPORTING THEIR KIDS SUCCESS. SOME OF OUR TOPICS INCLUDE USE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCREENS, HELPING TEENS NAVIGATE DEPRESSION/ANXIETY, SEXUALITY AND CURRENT SOCIAL/CULTURAL PRESSURES. WE USUALLY HAVE BETWEEN 30 AND 60 PEOPLE ATTEND OUR RG EVENTS.
