“The organizations primary purpose is to assist the lawyers helping lawyers committee of the oklahoma bar association oba in its charitable work with lawyers suffering from substance abuse and other infirmities. To organize and train response teams who can assist lawyers in need on a personal and confidential basis. Develop a resource referral system, develop and expand support systems for lawyers with specific needs, publicize the existence and service of the lawyers helping lawyers program to members of the oba, legal secretaries, paralegals, and spouses, develop and sponsor continuing legal education programs to ensure all attorneys recongnize impairment problems in themselves and their associates and acquire a knowledge about intervention resources and the benefits to be derived from intervention, and provide referral and peer support to assist oklahoma lawyers in recovery from alcohol and chemical dependence and other mental health impairments.”
