“Networking and policiy: ndi continues to work on policy issues for naturopathic and integrative medicine internationally, with specific work to build relationships with partners organizations and leaders in various departments at the world health organization. During 2017, ndi continued to work with paho, minsa and who. Ndi representatives participated in the paho/who reunion in managua, nicaragua: traditional and complementary medicine's contributions towards universal health that brought together ministries of health from the americas.”

“Services and outreach - provided 1 full time naturo-ortopatico medico general and 1 full time psychologist for both medical and psychological care to patients of all ages on the island of ometepe in nicaragua through the ndi naturopahtic and integrative medicine clinic, and in the community hospital of moyogalpa. Provide direct financial support to: silais nicaragua to moyogalpa hospital through donations of food, fuel, stationary and cleaning supplies - direct patient healthcare costs for pharmaceuticals, laboratory expenses, and/or transportation to seek specialty medical care not available on the island, and - to the community of los angeles bu hosting the ndi clinic through economic development opportunities to local families who provide homestays for visiting doctors and students. Diosa (godess, in spanish) - diosa is a program that provides women's wellness exams and preventive services, educational lectures, and community advocacy on behalf of women's healthcare rights. The ndi clinic is the only one on the island that offers a full range of services for victims of domestic and sexual violence including primary care services, psychological services, coordination with state agencies working for women and children, minsa and the judicial system. In the diosa program, ndi doctors performed paps in addition to direct medical care. The sponsor a patient program provided direct medicine costs outide of the ndi clinic to patients in the program. Multiple diosa women's groups around the island were trained in communities to help provide education to women and support groups. The diosa groups learn and then educate others on issues related to diet, women's health, reproductive health, home safety, and the right to live free of violence.”

“Education - ndi hosted 3 global health courses, graduating 33 students and doctors from the us and canada. Each class worked 4 days in the clinic and brought a cumulative total of 28,871.05 in donations of natural medicine and medical supplies. Ndi also awarded 17 scholarships in global health to students from the patricia bragg foundation. Ndi continues to coordinate with the ministry of health and the hospital on community health outreach projects.”
