Mission

Our mission is to strengthen the capacity of rural communities to secure a vital and sustainable quality of life. We listen to what's needed, connect the right players and create value-added solutions. Our vision of success will be realized when rural communities demonstrate the capacity to attain a high quality of life for current and future generations, when rural residents feel empowered to work collaboratively toward a shared vision for the future, and when public and private sector resources are maximized toward this end through effective coordination.

Major Activities

Activity 2: Local Food System Support: Maine Rural Partners participated in an initial analysis of the Maine Food System led by the Muskie School of Public Service and began working very closely with the Aroostook Band of Micmacs on building their Micmac Farms and Trading Company enterprise.
Activity 3: Rural Health Network: In cooperation with the New England Rural Health RoundTable, Maine Rural Partners launched the Maine Rural Health Network, including a peer collaboration web site found at www.healthyruralmaine.org.

IRS990/Description	0	Energy and Season Extension Work: MRP's Farm Energy Partners network continued to leverage state, federal and private resources to save energy, improve the environment and strengthen the bottom line of Maine's farms and rural communities. We initiated an on-farm energy audit program and continued to measure wind potential at 3 Maine farms. We assisted 10 farms with winter marketing business plans and created a new resource guide entitled Cold Cache. We also organized a municipal energy workshop and researched renewable energy case studies and buyers' guides in partnership with 3 municipalities.
