Does not engage in transactions with board members, their companies or their families, with the exception that contributions made by those individuals or organizations are accepted. Board members are required to disclose any potential or actual conflicts of interest known to them. If a potential arrangement with a board member was considered to be necessary, management would present the matter to the board for its consideration and approval, if granted. The board member with the conflict would not be permitted to participate in the evaluation and decision process. Employees are also covered by a conflict of interest policy contained in the employee handbook, which requires that employees notify the organization of any potential or actual conflicts and that such individual would not be involved in the decision making process. However, as a matter of policy, congressional hispanic leadership institute, inc. Does not engage in any transaction that would result in a perceived or actual conflict of interest.”

“The compensation of the president/ceo is determined by the board of directors. The board of directors made an initial determination of the salary level based on market values for similar positions in nonprofits and the budgetary constraints of a small nonprofit organization. Annually, the performance of the president/ceo is evaluated and a decision is made by the board to award a merit increase and/or bonus based on previously agreed upon objectives for the organization and the president/ceo. These increases are also evaluated to ensure that the overall compensation package of the president/ceo does not exceed the market based salary for the position. The evaluation and determination of the amount of any salary increase or raise is made in a board executive session and an officer of the board of directors provides written notification to congressional hispanic leadership institute, inc. Of the amount approved. The last time the full board members reviewed the president/ceo's compensation was in december 2018.”

“Congressional hispanic leadership institute makes available, upon written or in person request, its federal form 990 and all other documents required by current federal law and/or regulations to be made available to the public.”
