Activity 2

The learning lamp works in partnership with schools across pennsylvania to provide alternative education programs for students at risk for school failure. These programs focus on correcting behaviors and improving academic achievement, with the ultimate goal of transitioning students back to a traditional middle or high school classroom. Instruction is provided in a highly supportive, small group instructional setting, allowing students to master skills, build confidence and stay on track for high school graduation. Individual and group counseling assists students with resolving issues that prevent them from being successful in school. In 2012, the learning lamp's alternative education programs served 161 students.

Activity 3

The learning lamp works in partnership with schools and families to expand educational options for k-12 students by offering a wide variety of online courses. Courses include core subjects such as math, english, social studies and science, electives such as art and technology, advanced placement courses and credit recovery for students who have failed a course and need to make up credits to stay on track for high school graduation. In 2012, the learning lamp's online education programs served 1,065 students.
