Valley community housing corporation is a public charity, exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. The corporation follows the fasb accounting standards codification, which provides guidance on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in a corporation's financial statements. The guidance prescribes a recognition threshold and measurement attribute for the financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, and also provides guidance on derecognition, classification, interest, and penalties, accounting in interim periods, disclosure, and transition. Tax years subsequent to 2010 are open for examination.
