Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The specific mission of the organization is to coordinate resources to inspire and empower people to acheive their full potential.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Our Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) allocation supports, in part, two of our front-line programs, including the Wayne Table Works Program and the Success Center Transitional Housing program. The Success Center Transitional House is a short-term affordable living arrangement for single individuals age 18 and over. Upon intake, a partnership plan will be created and the individual will be provided with wrap around support services designed to promote rapid and sustained self-sufficiency. The services begin with an assessment of the needs and barriers the individual faces. Referrals are made to meet the individual's needs. Transportation is planned with the individual to make the individual familiar with the process of public transportation or other area transportation offered to meet their needs. The individual is enrolled in budgeting classes, GED, nutrition education, tenant's rights and responsibilities and/or referred to other credentialed classes and mental health/substance abuse services as appropriate. The Wayne Table Works Program prepares unemployed individuals for the actual experience of working and succeeding in a food service environment to obtain self-sufficiency. Through case management, certified training, transportation provision, as needed, and job attainment/retention education, this program positively addresses the challenge of matching jobless, high-risk individuals with employers who seek appropriate individuals for long-term employment and ultimate reciprocal success.
Activity 3
Weatherization - This federally funded program helps low-income homeowners and renters conserve energy, lower heating bills, and keep homes warm in frigid temperatures. All services are free of charge to Wayne & Ontario residents whose incomes are at or below the program guidelines. Weatherization serves 190 low-income and elderly individual households annually.
