Conflict of interest policy requires full disclosure statement no later than the first Board meeting following the annual meeting and election. Appointed board members must file a disclosure statement within 30 days of the appointment. Each director is required to identify or disclose any potential conflict pertaining to the organization in excess of $500.

The Executive Director is evaluated on an annual basis by the Executive Committee of the Board. The Executive Committee serves as the personnel committee for the organization. The DIA receives data from the International Downtown Association on wage rates in the downtown industry for executives and this has been used for comparison purposes. The Executive Director prepares a personal evaluation, as does each member of the personnel committee. These are combined and a single evaluation is offered and shared with the Executive Director by the President of the Board. The Associate Director is evaluated annually by the Executive Director.
