Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The companies are exempt from taxation under section 501 (c)(3) of the internal revenue code. It is highly certain that some positions taken for income tax purposes would be sustained upon examination by the taxing authorities, while others are subject to uncertainty about the merits of the position taken or the amount of the position that would be ultimately sustained. The benefit of a tax position is recognized in the financial statements only to the extent that an uncertain tax position (if any) is attributable to the companies. The tax returns for the tax years 2013 through 2016 remain subject to examination by the internal revenue service for u.s federal tax purposes and also by new york state for state tax purposes.
