APPROXIMATELY 170 YOUTHS FROM THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY PARTICIPATED IN THE SPORT OF HOCKEY. 55-60 YOUTHS WERE IN THE BEGINNER PROGRAM WHICH IS DESIGNED FOR THE PARTICIPATES TO HAVE FUN WHILE LEARNING THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ICE-SKATING. THIS PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE TO YOUTH 4 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER WITH LITTLE OF NO SKATING SKILLS. 105-110 YOUTHS ARE ACTIVE PLAYERS ON TEAMS. THE PLAYERS ARE PLACED ON A TEAM BASED ON THEIR AGE AND THE RESULTS OF AN ON-ICE PLACEMENT EVALUATIONS. THE PARTICIPATES RANGE IN AGE FROM 5 YEARS TO 18 YEARS. EACH OF THE TEAMS HAVE AT LEAST 3 ADULT COACHES. THE COACHES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PLAYER ALONG WITH PROVIDING THE BEST INSTRUCTION POSSIBLE AND IMPARTING ETHICAL VALUES AND SPORTMANSHIP TO EACH AND EVERY PLAYER UNDER HIS/HER DIRECTION. THE ORGANIZATION PERFORMS A BACKGROUND CHECK ON THE COACHES AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE PROTECTION TO THE YOUTH HOCKEY PARTICIPANTS. |
