“A committee of the Board of Directors which includes both the Executive director and Treasurer meets annually to review and finalize the IRS 990 Form (including all schedules and attachments). Each board member receives an electronic copy of the 990 Form before it is filed.”

“A copy of the Green Earth Institute's conflict of interest policy is given to all board members annually. All are required to disclose any financial interests which could give rise to conflict. After such disclosure, the Board of Directors evaluate and vote on any action that need be taken as the result of such conflict.”

“A committee of the Board of Directors evaluates the Executive Director's performance annually. Input from the Executive Director is obtained as part of the process. The committee also researches compensation for similarly qualified individuals in comparable positions at similar organizations. The committee makes a recommendation to the full Board for the Executive Director based on the evaluation of performance and review of the compensation information. The Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for the compensation decision. Last undertaken in December, 2009.”

“We use cash basis accounting not accrual. On 1-1-2013 we had $41,363 in advance payments/deferred revenue/unearned revenue for product that got delivered later in 2013. Afterward in 2013 we received a new $30,836 in advance payments/deferred revenue/unearned revenue, which is reflected as a liability on 12-31-2013. The net difference, $10,527, amounts to a shrinkage in liabilities which is an increase in assets.”
