“The brinckerhoff elementary pta's mission, in common with those of the new york state pta and the national pta, is: a. To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship. B. To raise the standards of home life. C. To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth. D. To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teacher may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth. E. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.”

“Arts in education: educational assemblies were provided for students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade (approximately 620 students). The assemblies were performed in brinckerhoff elementary school's cafeteria and in the classrooms. The objective of these assemblies is to expand the educational base that brinckerhoff elementary school provides in the classrooms.”

“Field trip (sixth grade): sixth graders attended a field trip to a park one day june (approximately 97 sixth grade students). The objectives of this field trip were to promote camaraderie amongst the students and teachers and to celebrate the end of elementary school years. On the field trip, students had the opportunity to be active and spend time outdoors.”

“Fun day: all students and teachers (approximately 620 students and 30 teachers) participated in fun day, which occurred one day in june. The objectives of fun day were to celebrate the end of the school year and to promote outdoor activity. Examples of outdoor activities included volleyball, soccer, and dancing.”

“Back to school gifts: all students receive a gift in september with an image of the brinckerhoff bronco mascot to promote school spirit. Examples of gifts include water bottles, pencils and folders. Brinckerhoff community: a fund to provide acknowledgment of brinckerhoff community members' retirements, deaths, and aging out of the brinckerhoff pta. Field day: sixth graders spend a full day outdoors in june to celebrate the end of elementary school years and to promote outdoor activity. Ice cream social: ice cream event for k-5 students and their families. Parents as reading partners (parp): funds for reading events, incentives and rewards for k-5. Kindergarten meet your teacher day (mytd): incoming kindergarten students and their parents are invited to attend an outdoor event on the playground and fields in august to meet fellow students and their teachers. The objective of this event is to increase familiarity between new students and their teachers and classmates before school starts. Moving up ceremony: sixth graders attend this ceremony in june to celebrate the end of the elementary school years and to recognize student achievements. Students listen to speeches from their current teachers, principal, and fellow students and learn of opportunities in middle school. Newspaper club: all fourth graders are invited to join this club. Club members submit articles for the school newspaper to report on assemblies, pta events, and classroom activities. The objectives of this club are for students to gain experience with journalism and learn of the process of printing newspapers. Parents as reading partners (parp): funds for reading events, incentives and rewards for k-6. Peggy mcgrath memorial: gift cards and certificates for 2-4 outstanding 6th graders who have helped the community. School beautification: funds are provided to promote the outward appearance of the school. Examples include new paint for the basketball courts/four-square courts and flowers near the entrance. Science fair: participation certificates for 3rd and 4th graders presenting at brinckerhoff's science fair and registration fee with t-shirt for 5th and 6th graders participating in the district science fair. Sixth grade breakfast: all sixth graders attend a pancake breakfast to celebrate the end of elementary school years. Sixth grade gift: all sixth graders receive a gift to commemorate the end of elementary school years. An example of a sixth grade gift is a class photograph with paper frame. Sixth grade t-shirts: all sixth graders receive a t-shirt to wear on the sixth grade field trip and field day in june. Staff appreciation: funds for back-to-school breakfast, holidays, year-end luncheon faculty funding & staff assistance: supports extra teacher-directed projects in the classroom and purchases needed for the staff room. Examples of purchases include paper for the laminate copier and chairs. Student recognition: funds for star student buttons, certificates, photos and ice cream for k-6 students nominated by teachers for being good role models. Talent show: funds for sound crew, stage hands and medals for k-6 talent show participants volunteer appreciation: end of year dinner for pta volunteer chairs.”
