Mission

Federation of american hospitals (the federation) was established for the purpose of promoting, publicizing and voicing the interests of investor-owned hospitals and health systems primarily through legislative and regulatory efforts at the federal level.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Management and general: this category contains expenses related to a portion of the management, staffing and overhead of the association. Therefore, this accounts for a significant portion of our administrative expenses.
Activity 3
General counsel and research: this category includes the costs of certain contracted health care consultants and law firms which provide analysis, counsel and advocacy support services for the fah's policy and legal agenda. The ever changing health policy environment and the fah's participation in various legal challenges to the health care reform law made this category one of the most significant expenditure areas in 2011.
