“And other public events. We had 57 hours of flight time in the skies of new mexico and did several static displays for neighborhood children. We gave out almost 10,000 balloon cards with mathematical equations and the coordinates of the fractal balloon image to inspire people to download free fractal software and create these kind of images for themselves. Fractal ballooning is a spectacular demonstration of the power of math, chemistry, physics and art. The balloon was enjoyed by over 12,000 fans on facebook, and over 1200 on our new @flyingfractals instagram account. This social media presence has resulted in invitations to fly the fractal balloon in canada and europe, where we hope to expand our educational outreach activities globally.”

“Almost always sell out. In 2019 approximately 1400 children and 5800 adults benefitted from our regularly scheduled shows in new mexico. We also performed several additional planetarium shows for school groups on field trips.”

“Institutes are offered to schools, teachers and other organizations. Additionally,fractal institutes are offered to educators to teach fractal content and pedagogy. We reached about 4000 children at new mexico schools during presentations that included hands-on fractivites where students got to experience making fractals themselves. We also launched a pilot project targeting 26 elementary school teachers based on the project echo professional development model using video conferencing over a series of 12 sessions. The objectives were to developt he teachers' abilities to develop and deliver high quality science, technology engineering, arts and math(stem) lessons based in the next generation science standards. Outside of schools we also impacted a large number of chilren at special events, where we spread our fractal message nessage to about almost 1400 students. Events included: stem day and stem week fractal classes at the national museum of science and history. The nm science fiesta the national association of gifted students conference the los alamos main street science fest the girl scouts of nm stem event the belen 2nd annual stem day the meow wolf fractal workshop.”

“Abq fractal challenge: k-12 students from the albuquerque area create and submit fractal images. Winners are chosen based on aesthetic beauty, complexity and color scheme and are displayed around albuquerque as public works of art. This year 225 children created unique and beautiful fractal artworks for the challenge using the free, open source software available from fractalfoundation.org. And two large scale winning artworks were installed on the side of buildings in albuquerque.”
