Pacific region oasis is a supporting organization of the oasis institute, which directs a national network of programs in 50 cities.

IN 2014, 97 OASIS TUTORS WORKED WITH 243 CHILDREN. PACIFIC REGION OASIS ALSO PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK WITH CHILDREN IN AN AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER CAMP SETTINGS THROUGH CATCH HEALTHY HABITS, AN EVIDENCE-BASED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND NUTRITION PROGRAM THAT COMBATS OBESITY BY ENGAGING TEAMS OF ADULT VOLUNTEERS, AGE 50 PLUS, WITH CHILDREN IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH THIRD GRADE FOR AN INTERACTIVE NUTRITION LESSON, A HEALTHY SNACK AND A VARIETY OF GAMES AND ACTIVITIES. BY MID-2015, OVER 340 ADULTS AND MORE THAN 2,500 CHILDREN WILL HAVE BENEFITED FROM THE PROGRAM IN LOS ANGELES. TO DATE, PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS HAVE PROVIDED OVER 4,000 HOURS OF SERVICE, GREATLY ENHANCING THE DISSEMINATION AND SUSTAINABILITY OF THE CATCH HEALTHY HABITS PROGRAM. ADDITIONALLY, THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERS TO TEACH CLASSES, REGISTER PARTICIPANTS AND ASSIST WITH SPECIAL EVENTS.
