Activity 2

Resource mobilization for unfpa country programs: americans for unfpa mobilizes financial support for global reproductive health and rights solutions. Such funding provides assistance in over 150 countries for unfpa initiatives including those that provide access to voluntary family planning, train skilled birth attendants, increase access to emergency obstetric care, aid women and young children during times of crisis, and promote policies, investments and social support so that young people can live healthy lives. Unfpa also focuses on improving the lives of women and girls by advocating for human rights and gender equality. Our expanded collaboration with a corporate partner resulted in a new initiative to address the critical shortage of maternal health workers in tanzania and to strengthen competency of maternal newborn health providers in ethiopia.

Activity 3

Public education: americans for unfpa educates and raises awareness about global reproductive health and rights, women's empowerment and the critical role of unfpa. Through our public education program, we disseminate information and stories through various communication channels; engage individuals through online outreach, social media and local educational events; organize leadership delegations to unfpa country programs; and sponsor the international honoree awards program which honors women from overseas who champion and promote these issues in their countries.
