Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The organization's endowments consist of two individual funds, comprised of money market funds, established for specific purposes. The endowments include both a government required endowment fund and a fund designated by the board of directors to function as an endowment. Net assets associated with the endowment funds, including funds designated by the board of directors to function as an endowment, are classified and reported based on the existence or absence of donor-imposed restrictions. The organization has adopted investment and spending policies for endowment assets that attempt to provide a predictable stream of earnings while seeking to maintain the purchasing power of the endowment assets. Endowment assets consist of donor-restricted funds that the organization must hold in perpetuity. Under this policy, as approved by the board of trustees, the endowment assets are invested in a manner that is intended to produce consistent results while assuming a low level of investment risk.
