Mission statement: empower under-resourced students & adults to become the next generation of leaders in food and hospitality through culinary arts education, job skills training, college scholarships, and career opportunities. Culinary careers program (ccap) is a national workforce development nonprofit dedicated to training and supporting the next generation of food and hospitality leaders. We provide culinary arts education, job skills, apprenticeships, scholarships, and career opportunities to under-resourced middle and high school students & adults. To date we have uplifted close to 400,000 students across the united states and awarded $76 million in college scholarships.
Careers through culinary arts program's mission is to promote and provide career opportunities in the foodservice industry for underserved youth through culinary arts education and employment.

BECAUSE OUR PROGRAMS DEVELOP STUDENTS' SKILLS, THEY ARE MOTIVATED TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION, RESULTING IN HIGHER HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION RATES AND SUCCESSFUL ENTRY INTO A BOOMING INDUSTRY WHERE C-CAP GRADUATES ARE IN HIGH DEMAND. JOB TRAINING AND INTERNSHIPS: C-CAP'S JOB TRAINING & INTERNSHIP PROGRAM EQUIPS YOUNG PEOPLE WITH THE TECHNICAL KITCHEN SKILLS NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN A PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN, AS WELL AS THE CRITICAL SKILLS NECESSARY IN A PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT. THE PROGRAM IS DIVIDED INTO TWO DISTINCT PORTIONS: A FIVE-DAY INTENSIVE "JOB TRAINING" WORKSHOP, FOLLOWED BY A SEVEN-WEEK PAID INTERNSHIP IN A PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN AT A RESTAURANT OR CORPORATE DINING FACILITY. THE CURRICULUM IS CONSTRUCTED TO IMPART BASIC JOB READINESS SKILLS, JOB-SEEKING SKILLS AND TECHNICAL CULINARY SKILLS, SUCH AS SAFETY AND SANITATION, KNIFE CUTS, PRODUCT AND EQUIPMENT IDENTIFICATION, AS WELL AS SOFT SKILLS, SUCH AS WORK ETHIC, COMMUNICATION, TIME MANAGEMENT, INTERPERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS AND PROBLEM SOLVING. DURING THE TRAINING SESSIONS, STUDENTS ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN ROLE-PLAYING ACTIVITIES, CLASS DISCUSSIONS, CULINARY WORKSHOPS, AND Q&A SESSIONS WITH INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL GUEST SPEAKERS. AFTER COMPLETING THE JOB TRAINING, STUDENTS ARE PLACED IN PAID INTERNSHIPS AT IMPRESSIVE RESTAURANTS AND DINING VENUES IN OUR VARIOUS LOCATIONS. IN FY 14, WE INCREASED THE SIZE OF JOB TRAINING BY 30%.CAREER EXPLORATION EVENTS AND ADVISING: C-CAP HOLDS A VARIETY OF CAREER EXPLORATION EVENTS DESIGNED TO EXPOSE STUDENTS AND ALUMNI TO VARIOUS POSITIONS IN THE INDUSTRY AND ENHANCE STUDENT AWARENESS REGARDING INDUSTRY EXPECTATIONS AND CAREER PATHS. LAST YEAR, WE PROVIDED NEARLY $378,914 IN PRODUCT DONATIONS TO OUR SCHOOLS, AND WE ANTICIPATE ENDING THIS YEAR WITH SIMILAR RESULTS. ALUMNI PROGRAMMINGC-CAP AIMS TO BE IN COMMUNICATION WITH OUR ALUMNI IN ORDER TO MENTOR AND ADVISE THEM AS THEY CLIMB THE CAREER LADDER. FURTHER, CURRENT C-CAP STUDENTS WILL BENEFIT WHEN ALUMNI GIVE BACK BY (A) PROVIDING INTERNSHIPS AND SHADOW OPPORTUNITIES; (B) VISITING CLASSROOMS AS GUEST SPEAKERS AND (C) VOLUNTEERING AT C-CAP PROGRAMS TO PROMOTE BRAND AWARENESS. TO GROW OUR ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT, IN 2014, WE LAUNCHED AN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AND AN ALUMNI BOARD, WHICH HAS GROWN IN FY 15. THUS FAR, THROUGH THE EFFORTS OF THE ALUMNI BOARD AND C-CAP STAFF, WE HAVE HELD MULTIPLE EVENTS FOCUSED ON NETWORKING, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND GIVING BACK TO THE C-CAP COMMUNITY THROUGHOUT OUR LOCATIONS.
