Well-known for high-quality and affordable programs, the Emelin has 257 seats and is one of the few performing arts venues in the region providing a broad mix of entertainment appealing to all ages and tastes, attracting audiences from Westchester County and beyond.”
“Program Revenue (Earned Income) during FY2024-2023, was higher than FY2023-2022. During 2024-2023, the Emelin increased the number of performances vs. the prior year. We also increased the percentage of paid occupancy at our performances compared to the prior year. However, the number of performances and paid occupancy continues to be lower than pre-pandemic levels. The average ticket price in FY 2024-2023 was slightly lower than FY 2023-2022 given our careful curation of artists and desire to attract audiences with affordable prices. Public and Private Support (Contributed income) and Special Events results were lower than FY2023-2022 which benefited from the generous donor support of celebrating the Emelin's 50th anniversary Gala during that fiscal year. The FY2024-2023 operating expenses were adversely impacted by inflation across most expense categories including increases in artist fees and utility costs. We also incurred increased hiring costs and search fees to replace and add personnel in several key positions including a new Executive Director and several full and part-time marketing and box office personnel. Compensation expense in FY2024-2023 was higher than FY2022-2023 due to the increased number of performances and the hiring of new personnel previously discussed.”

The average ticket price in FY 2024-2023 was slightly lower than FY 2023-2022 given our careful curation of artists and desire to attract audiences with affordable prices. Public and Private Support (Contributed income) and Special Events results were lower than FY2023-2022 which benefited from the generous donor support of celebrating the Emelin's 50th anniversary Gala during that fiscal year. The FY2024-2023 operating expenses were adversely impacted by inflation across most expense categories including increases in artist fees and utility costs. We also incurred increased hiring costs and search fees to replace and add personnel in several key positions including a new Executive Director and several full and part-time marketing and box office personnel. Compensation expense in FY2024-2023 was higher than FY2022-2023 due to the increased number of performances and the hiring of new personnel previously discussed. |
