The Museum at Eldridge Street consistently monitors and enforces its conflict of interest policy. Steps taken to ensure that Trustees and Employees are not in conflicts of interest include conflict of interest clauses in the Board of Directors and Employee Manuals, which are given to each Trustee and Staff Member upon joining the board or staff, and reinforced annually at Board of Directors and Staff meetings; completion of NYC Vendex forms that require that each board member state any conflict of interest; conflicts of Interest disclosure forms are available to all Trustees and Employees upon request; Board of Directors and staff meetings, and general work environment, encourages Trustees and Employees to ask questions about real or potential conflicts of interest. .

The Museum at Eldridge Street collects printed and manuscript materials, maps, photographs, motion picture film, video and audio tapes, paintings, artifacts, household objects, ritual objects, art works and other items which have been created or used in the locations, community or geographical areas of: 12 Eldridge Street, New York, NY 10002; the Lower East Side of New York, NY; the United States; internationally; and which are relevant to the following subject areas: American-Jewish history, traditions and culture; Lower East Side history; or which place the New York City and National Historic Landmark Eldridge Street Synagogue within the context of New York City, Jewish, immigrant, and community history. The Board of Directors has an established Collection Committee and Collections Policy which establishes rules, guidelines and procedures for the acquisition, care, preservation, public access and deaccessioning of items in the Museums collections. Currently, our paid archivist has catalogued 508 items.
