FORM 990, PART III, LINE 1:

TO FOSTER THE CREATIVE AND INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT OF NEW YORK CITY YOUTH THROUGH QUALITY VISUAL ARTS PROGRAMS, DIRECTED BY ARTS PROFESSIONALS. TO COLLABORATE WITH AND DEVELOP THE ABILITY OF THOSE WHO PROVIDE OR SUPPORT ARTS PROGRAMMING AND CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT FOR YOUTH BOTH IN AND OUTSIDE OF SCHOOLS. The mission is fulfilled through two divisions: studio in a school NYC, which offers programs for students in pre-k through high school; and the studio institute, which shares professional learning, partnership programs, arts internships, and research grants in local and national forums. Form 990, Part III, line 4a: RESIDENCY PROGRAMS: This program offers 6-20 week visual arts workshops for students during the school-day or after school in New York City public schools and selected community-based organizations. Sites select this flexible pre-K through 12th grade program for a single grade or an entire school. Some sites contracted for multiple residencies during the school year, for a total of 306 residencies at 132 sites and 18,846 students served. One artist/teacher planning meeting and one professional development session occurs in each school-day residency of at least 14 weeks. Form 990, Part III, line 4b: LONG TERM PROGRAM: Studio's original program establishes a dedicated art studio and offers in-depth visual arts instruction for New York City Title I public elementary schools. It places professional artists in participating schools for at least five years, creating a place for visual arts within the school's curriculum and culture. A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST IN EACH SITE WORKED WITH BETWEEN 8 AND 16 CLASSES WEEKLY (2-4 DAYS PER WK) FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR (60 TO 120 DAYS) PROVIDING ART INSTRUCTION AND MAKING ART AN INTEGRAL PART OF CHILDREN'S EDUCATION. IN FISCAL YEAR 2018, 25 SCHOOLS WITH OVER 8,775 STUDENTS TOOK PART IN ART MEDIA-BASED UNITS SELECTED FROM DRAWING, PAINTING, PRINTMAKING, COLLAGE, SCULPTURE, TWO-DIMENSIONAL APPLIED DESIGN, AND DIGITAL MEDIA. CLASSROOM TEACHERS ALSO RECEIVED ART PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS (1-2 PER SCHOOL); A PARENT WORKSHOP WAS OFFERED IN EACH SCHOOL TO INTRODUCE ART MEDIA AND EXTEND ART ACTIVITIES AT HOME. Form 990, Part III, Line 4c: TEEN PROGRAMS: Studio offers three programs focusing specifically on teens : 1) Teen Visual Art Programs: These programs serve middle and high school students and take place outside of school. Emphasis is placed on providing in-depth visual arts experience to individuals; 2) Studio Intensives: Advanced visual arts workshops in Studio's Westside art studio offered free on Saturday and during school breaks; 3) Teen Apprenticeships and Summer Internship Programs: These programs enable high school students to learn about careers in the arts, while gaining important academic and workplace skills. Studio inspires students to pursue arts careers and mentors them in their first jobs at museum, cultural institutions and summer camps across the city. In fiscal year 2018, 173 students participated in these programs. FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4D: 1. EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM: YEAR-LONG VISUAL ARTS RESIDENCIES FOR NYC TITLE I PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND PUBLICLY FUNDED DAY NEW YORK CITY EARLY EDUCATION CENTERS. THE AIM OF THE 1-YEAR PRE-K/K PROGRAM IS TO INSTITUTE ART ACTIVITIES AS A REGULAR PART OF STUDENTS' EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING, SUSTAINABLE AFTER STUDIO'S TENURE AT EACH SITE. part III, line 4:

THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED CONTRIBUTIONS OF ARTWORK IN PRIOR YEARS TO BE SOLD TO RAISE FUNDS. VARIOUS PIECES OF ARTWORK ARE STILL IN THE ORGANIZATION'S POSSESSION. Part V, LINE 4: THE ENDOWMENT'S OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE AN ANNUAL EARNINGS CASH FLOW TO ASSIST IN COVERING THE COST OF THE REPORTING ORGANIZATION'S OPERATIONS.

(the "reporting organization") was incorporated in the state of new york and is exempt from federal, state and local income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (the "code") and therefore has made no provision for income taxes in the accompanying statement of financial position. In addition, the reporting organization has not taken an unsubstantiated tax position that would require provision of a liability under asc 740, "income taxes". Under asc 740, an organization must recognize the tax benefit associated with tax positions taken for tax return purposes when it is more likely than not the position will not be sustained. The reporting organization does not believe there are any material uncertain tax positions and, accordingly, has not recognized any liability for unrecognized tax benefits. The reporting organization has filed internal revenue service ("irs") form 990, as required, and all other applicable returns in jurisdictions when it is required.
