Mission

With universal and jewish values as the source of its inspiration, the jerusalem foundation seeks to create a just society for all citizens of jerusalem. The jerusalem foundation works toward creating an open, equitable and modern society by responding to the needs of residents and trying to improve their quality of life. The jerusalem foundation will continue to pioneer change while at the same time supporting efforts to preserve the history of the city.

THE AUDIT COMMITTEE IS AUTHORIZED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO REVIEW FORM 990. THE ORGANIZATION'S AUDIT FIRM PROVIDES THE AUDIT COMMITTEE WITH A DRAFT OF FORM 990 WHICH THE COMMITTEE THEN REVIEWS FOR COMPLETENESS AND ACCURACY. THE AUDIT FIRM THEN ADDRESSES ANY CONCERNS OR REVISIONS TO FORM 990 PROPOSED BY THE AUDIT COMMITTEE. THE AUDIT COMMITTEE THEN ACCEPTS THE FORM 990. The form 990 is then distributed to the full board of directors before being filed by the IRS.

FORM 990, PART VI, SECTION B, LINE 12C:

The board-approved conflict of interest policy is provided to all board members and key employees. On an annual basis, board members and key employees must disclose any conflicts that he or she may have by completing the conflicts of interest disclosure form and submitting it to a member of the organization's management for review. Board members and key employees are also responsible for promptly disclosing any conflict.

The independent board of directors of the organization have empowered the board chairman and general counsel to review and determine the salary of the executive director and key employees of the organization. Recent salary survey data of similar-sized nonprofit organizations in the ny metropolitan area are reviewed to determine a reasonable and competitive salary for the positions.

Financial Statement Notes

PART III, LINE 4:

The antique musical equipment is on loan to the jerusalem symphony orchestra. The film and video prints are on loan to the cinematheque in jerusalem. The judaica collection and jewelry are on loan to the israel museum and nature park and galleries at the hebrew university of jerusalem, respectively.

The endowment is used to fund board-approved programs and projects in jerusalem.

PART X, LINE 2:

Under ASC 740, "income taxes", an organization MUST RECOGNIZE THE TAX IMPACT OF A TAX POSITION TAKEN ON A TAX RETURN WHEN IT IS MORE LIKELY THAN NOT THAT THE POSITION WILL not BE SUSTAINED ON AUDIT, BASED ON THE TECHNICAL MERITS OF THE POSITION. JERUSALEM FOUNDATION, INC. (THE "REPORTING ORGANIZATION") DOES NOT BELIEVE THERE ARE ANY MATERIAL UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS AND, ACCORDINGLY, HAS NOT RECOGNIZED ANY LIABILITY FOR UNRECOGNIZED TAX BENEFITS. THE REPORTING ORGANIZATION HAS FILED FOR AND RECEIVED INCOME TAX EXEMPTIONS IN THE JURISDICTIONS WHERE IT IS REQUIRED TO DO SO.
