Mission

To promote and pursue excellence in all aspects of the art and science of podiatric medicine, to promote appreciation for that excellence on the part of patients, policy makers, other health care professionals, and the public, and to seek conditions and environments which support optimal practice and patient care. Toward these ends, this association unites into one organization, those doctors of podiatric medicine who dedicate themselves to its principles, standards, and ethical guidelines and who express this high dedication in daily practice.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Podiatry protection program (ppp)- the ppp provides coverage of legal costs for investigations, claims and other proceedings by multiple agencies including the nys office of professional discipline, medicare and medicaid, insurance companies and hmo's; protection against complaints, proceedings and the like by hippaa, osha, workmen's compensation, ipro and ocr; opportunity for consultations on general legal issues like contracts, leases, medical records retention, patient privacy; and, additional legal representation at a preferred billing rate.
Activity 3
Radiography seminar - the podiatric radiography course for unlicensed individuals teaches attendees how to perform a podiatric radiology examination. This 8-hour education program addresses how to perform an accurate exam in a manner that is safe for both the patient and examiner. Basic radiology principles are reviewed with a special emphasis on practical application. Attendees are tested at the end of the session and certified to take podiatric radiographs under the supervision of a licensed podiatrist if they pass the competency test.168 individuals attended this program and were certified to take podiatric radiographs under the supervision of a licensed podiatrist.
