The 990 will be reviewed by our accounting partners, dsj. It will also be reviewed with the finance committee for approval. That approval will be shared with the board of directors

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The organization's conflict of interest policy covers all board members, officers, and employees. Fraud and conflict of interest disclosures are prepared by each board member annually. The board shall determine whether a conflict exists and is material, and in the presence of an existing material conflict, whether the contemplated transaction may be authorized as just, fair, and reasonable. If a conflict is discovered, it would immediately be presented to the executive committee for review and remediation. The interested person would refrain from voting on an matter till it is resolved.

Fathers' day/mother's day council makes its form 990 available for public inspection as required under section 6104 of the internal revenue code. The finance committee is comprised of three board members led by the treasurer. Their role is to review and approve all financial statements. They also prepare and review budgets. The committee provides guidance to the board of directors for final review and approval. We work with two different accounting firms for audit preparation and general accounting.

PART X, LINE 2:

The council recognizes the effect of income tax positions only if those positions are more likely than not of being sustained. Management has determined that the council had no uncertain tax positions that would require financial statement recognition or disclosure. The council is no longer subject to examinations by the applicable taxing jurisdictions for the periods prior to july 31, 2021.
