“Members of developmental disabilities institute, inc. Are defined as follows: class i - parents or legal guardians of individuals with developmental disabilities currently receiving either residential, educational, early intervention, or adult day services from the institute shall be eligible for regular membership. If an individual served has both parents and legal guardians, then only the legal guardian(s) is considered the class i member. Meetings of the members a) an annual meeting of the members shall be held every year prior to the third thursday of november. B) special meetings of the members may be called at any time by the chairperson of the board of directors and it shall be the duty of the chairperson to call a special meeting whenever requested to do so in writing by 20% of the total class i regular membership. C) all actions and questions at any meeting of the members, except as otherwise provided by law or by these by laws, shall be decided by majority vote of those votes cast either in person or by proxy. D) only class i members shall have the right to vote in any elections or special meetings as provided for in the by-laws. E) quorum consists of the following, subject to any provision in these by laws requiring a higher quorum for the transaction of any specific type of business, the presence in person or by proxy of the lesser of either the class i regular members entitled to cast 100 votes or one-tenth of the total number of votes entitled to be cast shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business at all meetings of the members, provided that a lesser number may adjourn the meeting from time to time without further notice of the adjournment date or dates until a quorum is present.”

STUDENTS RECEIVE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES IN A HIGHLY STRUCTURED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT, ALONG WITH SPEECH/LANGUAGE THERAPY, ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION, OCCUPATIONAL AND PHYSICAL THERAPY, CLINICAL SERVICES, VOCATIONAL SERVICES AND INTENSIVE PARENT TRAINING. THE ORGANIZATION SERVED AN AVERAGE OF 216 STUDENTS DURING THE REPORTING YEAR. TOTAL EXPENSES: $16,079,635. TOTAL REVENUE: $16,555,647. 2) Children's Residential Care Programs - The Children's Residential Program (CRP) Provides Intensive Education, In A Home-Like Setting, To Autistic And Autistic-Like Children Whose Needs Exceed What Can Be Addressed By Typical Special Education Services. A Team Of Professional Staff And Parents Together Carefully Monitor Each Child'S Growth With The Objective Of Returning That Student To His Or Her Natural Home And School, Or Another Less Restrictive Alternative At The Optimal Time. The certified capacity of the Children's Residential Care Program during the reporting year was 65. TOTAL EXPENSES: $11,413,957. TOTAL REVENUE: $11,675,958. 3) Self Direction Is The Practice Of Empowering People With Developmental Disabilities To Manage The Supports And Services They Receive, Determine Who Provides The Supports, And How And Where They Are Provided. TOTAL EXPENSES: $1,286,698. TOTAL REVENUE: $1,426,283. 4) As Of August 22, 2016, The Agency Surrendered The License For Its Diagnostic And Treatment Center ("Opti-Healthcare"). Opti Healthcare Was Transitioned Over To Another Unrelated Not-For-Profit Entity, Long Island Select Healthcare ("LISH") Which Will Continue To Provide Services As A Federally-Qualified Healthcare Center. The Agency Leases Space To LISH And Has A Landlord Tenant Relationship. TOTAL EXPENSES: $628,695. TOTAL REVENUE: $630,976. 5) From July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019, DDI contracted with Advance Care Alliance (ACA), a Care Coordination Organization (CCO), to provide health home care management services, including the coordination of health care, behavioral health, and developmental disability services to individuals who qualify for OPWDD services. This program took the place of Medicaid Service Coordination (MSC) and offers a more comprehensive and person-centered level of service that ensures that all of a person's providers are aligned with his/her personal goals, preferences, and valued outcomes. TOTAL EXPENSES: $381,635. TOTAL REVENUE: $724,512. 6) Maintenance Contract Program - Developmental Disabilities Institute Performs Maintenance Services For Eden II Programs. TOTAL EXPENSES: $18,816. TOTAL REVENUE: $48,400. 7) Other programs - TOTAL EXPENSES: $209,580. TOTAL REVENUE: $3,650.”
“Under ASC 740, an organization must recognize the tax benefit associated with tax positions taken for tax return purposes when it is more likely than not that the position will be sustained. Developmental Disabilities Institute, Inc. does not believe there are any material uncertain tax positions and, accordingly, it will not recognize any liability for unrecognized tax benefits. The organization has filed for and received income tax exemptions in the jurisdictions where it is required to do so. Additionally, the organization has filed Internal Revenue Service Form 990 tax returns, as required, and all other applicable returns in jurisdictions when it is required. For the year ended December 31, 2019, there was no interest or penalties recorded or included in the statement of activities.”
