Since 2009, the Foundation and its donors have provided over $40 million in grants to more than 300 nonprofits throughout the borough, bolstering vital programs and services while responding to urgent community needs. PART III - LINE 4C Brooklyn Accelerator: Spark Prize: created to celebrate Brooklyn nonprofits and encourage greater local giving. In 2017, five Brooklyn nonprofits received a Spark Prize of $100,000 each. In addition, the Foundation created Brooklyn Gives, a crowd-funding campaign in conjunction with #Giving Tuesday, through which it awarded $100,000 in matching grants to 20 finalists identified through the Spark Prize selection process. Incubator Project: created to provide a springboard for exciting, emerging Brooklyn organizations. With our headquarters in Crown Heights, the Foundation supports a small cohort of startup nonprofits by providing free co-working space for 18 months, customized technical assistance and capacity building support, and a $5,000 stipend part iii - line 4d neighborhood strength: Launched in Crown Heights in 2014, Neighborhood Strength continues the Foundation's efforts to position Brooklyn residents as key decision-makers in local investments while creating a model for neighborhood grantmaking that can be used across the borough. In 2016, a diverse group of religious leaders, business owners, activists and youth came together to form the Crown Heights Advisory Council. Together, they determined the priorities for a grant program that awarded $100,000 to local organizations addressing tenants' rights and homelessness, police relationships, youth development, and stronger bonds between Crown Heightscommunities. immigrant rights fund: the foundation launched the immigrant rights fund in 2017 to provide both immediate and long term support for organizations responding to mounting fear and uncertainty in brooklyn's immigrant communities.”
