Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2

Board members itzhak and toby perlman - family relationship

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

After review by the treasurer and prior to filing, a draft 990 is provided to the members of the board of directors.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Annually the audit committee will review conflict of interest files.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15A

All full time employees complete self evaluation form shortly before the close of the fiscal year which are then discussed with their supervisors. In the case of the executive director, the executive committee of the board of directors reviews her evaluation and, in consultation with an executive recruitment firm specializing in senior management in nonprofit corporations, determines an appropriate salary and bonus along with establishing goals for the next year. A key component of this determination is a review of public information available for similar nonprofits in the arts, performance and musical education. For purposes of comparibilty the committee looks at organizations of similar size as measured by functional expenses and net assets and geographic location. This process is summarized in executive committee notes.
