Activity 2

Sabbath, holiday and ritual programs: a wide variety of sabbath, jewish holiday and jewish ritual programs are offered throughout the year by hineni. These programs infuse participants with the magic and joy of observance by introducing them to the practical meaning and real-life features of major jewish traditions and holidays. Among the programs offered are those that center around the various jewish holidays, including purim, passover, shavuot, tisha b'av, high holidays, succoth and chanukah. Hands-on classes and questions-and- answer sessions are conducted by hineni's rabbis, rebbetzins and volunteer lay leaders.

Activity 3

Other religious and social programs: hineni offers a variety of religious and social programs through traditional and alternative educational methods. Among the methods used to reach a broad range of individuals are formal classes, torah via e-mail, fax and various on-line learning programs. Hineni's programs are tailored to provide maximum benefit to participants, covering a wide range of topics and areas of study. Classes in ethics educate participants to infuse meaning and purpose in their lives. Classes for immigrants from the former soviet union and other countries enable participants to integrate into american jewish life and find productive career opportunities. Torah and lunch study groups at homes and offices provide those leading hectic schedules to incorporate jewish learning and torah study into their daily or weekly routines. Our speakers bureau and young leadership programs facilitate distance learning opportunities for those who cannot easily participate in lectures, classes and programs at our in-house heritage center. Matchmaking, counseling and other social programs provide other opportunities for men and women of all ages and from all walks of life to network with peers and achieve a variety of life-altering experiences within a context of jewish heritage and learning. Opportunities for giving back to the world include home and hospital visitations to the ill and infirm, and other forms of hands-on activities which bring a personal touch, hope and good cheer to the less fortunate in our community.
